Title: The Stillness
of the Sky
Author: Starla Huchton
Series: A Flipped Fairy Tale
Genre: Fantasy /YA
Publisher: Self Published
Release Date: Feb 2 2015
Blurb/Synopsis:
"Once upon a
time, my life was certain: it was insignificant, and it was cruel. But I
refused to let it define me, no matter how great the cost.
Once upon a time, I
made a wish. The world I knew grew wider than the sky and higher than the
stars, and I listened to the voice within me, reaching out for freedom.
Once upon a time, my
wish became my fate, and my destiny the hardest lesson to learn: kindness may
be the most difficult path, but it can save entire kingdoms.”
My Thoughts
Wow this is my second gender flipped fairytale by Starla Huchton and I must say a great read from beginning to end. Her writing never ceases to amaze me. Her world building and characters are fantastic. I love the spins she puts on these fairy tales we all grew up reading and loving. This rendition or retelling of Jack in the Beanstalk was superb. Starla Huchton transports us to a magical kingdom and keeps us glued to the very end begging and pleading to read the next gender flipped fairytale. I can not wait to see where she takes us next. I know I would like to see maybe Thumbelina or maybe even Little Red Riding Hood. Until the next fairytale retelling be sure to check out Shadows on Snow and The Stillness in the Sky. I promise you will not be disappointed. Starla is putting a fun fantastical twist on all our childhood favorites.

If I could make a wish for someone else, it would be for my mom to see her mother again, even if it's for a short amount of time. My grandma June passed away from breast cancer when my mom was only 12 years old and she didn't grow up with any positive female figures in her life from then on. She talks about her all the time and she seems like an interesting woman, I wish I could have met her too.
Thank you for the chance! :)
I would wish for my husband, better health.
