“What do you think you’re doing?” I question, my words muffled from arousal. He doesn’t respond, just caresses his lips along the sensitive skin of my neck seductively, causing my head to loll to the side. A rush of desire races through my chest, and my breathing picks up.
“We can’t, remember? You’re my pimp, and I’m you’re escort. Rules,” I whimper, reminding him of his words from last night.
He growls, the sound of his teeth grating. “Don’t ever call me that,” he rasps into my ear. The heat of his breath causes me to moan. He turns me around and picks me up, his fingers digging into my dress-cladded thighs.
“What if you’re not my escort right now? No rules,” he breathes heavily, placing me down on his desk.
“Like, pretending?” I question, digging my heels into his ass, pushing him closer.
“Exactly,” he whispers, brushing my hair from my face. “Just two normal people.”
“How do normal couples meet? What do ordinary people do when they’re together?” I murmur, not having the first clue how a normal couple does things.

Charlie is 18 when she finally leaves the system after being there for 9 yrs after watching her mother die at the hands of somebody with black wings on his back. She does remember much from that day just in snippets. Now she is set out to survive along with Jayden a fellow ward of the state and housemate that she looked after. The girls soon learn surviving is not going to be easy.
Charlie is saved on more than one occasion by Landon Blackwell. Landon warned her not to trust Chasen but she had to learn that lesson for herself.
Charlie is a strong willed and only wants to survive never intended her survival to land her in the line of work that it did. She never intended in becoming a whore she thought Chasen loved her, so she did what she thought she had to care for herself and Jayden.
Landon Blackwell a business that many fear as they should after all he runs the city. After bumping into Charlie he knew he had to have her. Only in his line a work he could not unless he broke every rule he set for himself.
Charlie and Landon's relationship is unconventional at the best but the magnetic pull they have towards each other is so intense that it leaves you breathless. Charlie remains naive throughout the story so will Landon be her undoing or her salvation. I absolutely loved this book and the characters except for Chasen I HATED him. He was an arrogant fucking dickhead. The world she created was dark and gritty and I was transported to the streets of Las Vegas.
